The clip of Evans is bothersome to me. There seems to be no cause for the attack and the agitation, so it seems that he has something to hide when a soft question is met with hostility. I don't know Evans, but this significantly shapes my view going forward. Especially when he remains silent along with the others on something as important as disappearing of residents in our community.
Evans knew he was being set up by Davidson, who I assume is a MAGA. Davidson just wanted to taunt the mayor with that drunk red-faced fascist’s threats to our hispanic community. He’s right not to engage. Homan didn’t have an answer for a single question Davidson asked him. It was only another MAGA forum provided by an ass-kissing “journalist.”
Thank you for your comment! I don’t disagree, but I guess I look at this from the perspective of a former reporter and current PR pro. The vast majority of people who saw this didn’t have that context, and it was a missed opportunity to get his message out. But, Neil, what is the mayor’s message? Has he said anything against Homan, to anyone? I can’t find it.
Of course you’re right, but I feel like David Smith acted decisively under Malik’s direction. Ultimately, the more awful reality is how easily a horde of officers ignored an explicit city policy as well as clear direction from their commander on-scene to remove a terrified unarmed man from a vehicle. All while the liars who summoned them with a fake distress call stood by. It’s a kind of immoral bloodlust unique to MAGA, and has nothing to do with public service.
Agree on Chief Smith! His letter to the department was really good and spelled out why this was in violation of the order. The issue the union had was with the policy itself. I’m glad the city didn’t back down.
However, when Homan got involved a day or two later, the silence from City Hall was disappointing. Aligning with Homan was pretty terrible thing for the union to do.
